New York State Paid Family Leave will be receiving a significant upgrade in benefits for employees beginning January 1, 2025. The maximum total benefit for those on PFL will be $14,127.84 (an over $300 increase from $13,813.92 in 2024). As a result, the maximum total cost (remitted from an employee’s paycheck) will increase to $354.53 annually (a $20 increase from $333.25 in 2024).

Employers should prepare their payroll departments to remit the correct amount from employee paychecks. Employers should also inform employees of the new benefit amount as soon as possible with an update of relevant posted PFL documentation.
