The Department of Labor has recently unveiled a new search tool on its website that assists in searching for 5500 filings by businesses. Not only can users search for a specific filing, but users can also search using a variety of search terms (such as plan type, plan asset value, number of participants, plan years, and locations).

The database contains 5500 filings from as far back as January 2010 and allows users to export search results to a CSV file. This function can be very useful for businesses to ensure that their 5500 has been properly filed and for third parties to ensure their business partners are compliant. You can find the search tool HERE.
