Federal Government Extends COVID-19 Public Health Emergency Through July
The Federal Government has decided to continue the nationwide COVID-19 public-health emergency through at least the middle of July. As a reminder, the Secretary of Health and Human Services declared a Public Health Emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic on January 31, 2020. The current Secretary has decided that the emergency designation needs to be extended.
This continued designation means that many healthcare-related pandemic measures will continue for the foreseeable future. Importantly, this includes the relaxed due dates on many employment-related healthcare items, such as COBRA elections.
