Federal Government Provides 1095 Reporting Relief from January 1 2025

A new law has been passed related to employer reporting requirements for the annual Forms 1095. Known as the Paperwork Burden Reduction Act, this act was signed into law by President Biden on December 23, 2024. The Paperwork Burden Reduction Act alters certain portions of the Affordable Care Act so that employers are no longer required to provide Forms 1095 B and C to employees on an annual basis. Instead, employers are now required to provide these notices upon request.
Employers are now required to provide information to employees on an annual basis on their entitlement to their Form 1095 B and instructions on how to retrieve it. Any request for a Form 1095 B or C must be fulfilled within 30 days of the request. This new rule takes effect beginning on 1/1/2025.
