Mayor Bill de Blasio has announced a COVID-19 vaccination mandate for the entire city of New York prior to the end of his term. This mandate will cover all private sector employers, who must ensure all employees are vaccinated prior to 2022. Importantly, there is no allowance for employees to test weekly as an alternative. There will be standard religious and medical exemptions.

This mandate is currently set to take effect on December 27. Employers must have on-record documentation that all employees have received at least one does of the COVID-19 vaccine by the end of the year. Further details on the mandate will be made available in the coming weeks.
