The New York State 2024-2025 budget addresses the fate of COVID-19 Sick Leave in New York State. COVID-19 Sick Leave is a form of leave currently offered by New York State that allows employees to take between 5-15 days of paid leave if they or their minor dependent are subject to a mandatory or precautionary order of quarantine or isolation. The state has decided to sunset this leave on July 31, 2025.

Until the leave ends, employers should continue to provide this leave to employees in full accordance with the law. You can read about the law, including the date it expires, on the New York State website HERE.
